From the jobsite
to the consulting room
Barndoor was created out of a desire to offer more options for clients in the Construction Industry. Having worked since 1992 in Commercial Construction for a General Contractor, I witnessed and participated in the transformation of the industry - from pencil and paper through the computer age, the knowledge age, and now the information age. It has been an exciting 30+ years.
Eleven years ago I left the Construction Industry and joined a leading consulting firm. Over those years I performed many functions: Project Manager, Business Analyst, Data Conversion / ETL Consultant, Custom Integrations Developer, and Implementation Consultant. I held positions of leadership and learned in the trenches what goes right - and what goes wrong - when implementing new software and business processes.
During those eleven years, as I deepened my knowledge of different construction industry verticals, I formed my own ideas and approaches to consulting. I had a desire to put them to the test. When the firm I worked for was sold last year, I faced a decision: continue as-is, or challenge myself and my ideas. I decided to aim high and start my own consulting firm.
My belief in my abilities - and my desire to reshape what a consulting firm can be - is strong. With like-minded people, some hard work, and a little luck, Barndoor will become a light, a shining star in our industry.
